2003 Fan Remix Edition

Believe it or not, this was Village Video Anime's very

first fanedit.  Yup, you heard us.  It was a private

thing (until now), done back in 2003 for a Robotech fan

friend of ours.  He had just gotten his hands on a bad

VHS bootleg of the Robotech movie, and wanted to see if

we could improve it for him.  "Sure, why not?" we said

at the time ... and thus began a very long and rather

interesting trip for us in the ways of the fanedit.  So

why release it now, after all this time?  Well, we had

thought it lost until we stumbled across our master

backup in an old box of discs.  Also, we don't want it

getting lost to disc rot like what happened to our

fanedit movie version of STAR BLAZERS: THE BOLAR WARS.

It will stay alive practically forever on the Internet,

where many a Robotech fan still enjoys the show.



Rather than take the Robotech movie "straight," given

its unique history and the way it ultimately turned out,

we decided right away to make several changes.  We tried

to put as much of the "girl stuff" back in that Cannon

made Carl Macek cut out.  Most of this came from the old

Streamline Video release of MEGAZONE 23 PART 1 - the OAV

on which the Robotech movie is based.  Some of the voice

actors were even the same, B.D.'s in particular, and that

helped a lot.  We also changed the opening of the movie

to be more consistent with the series proper, as well as

adding both a text intro and epilogue to make the story

more easy to follow.  Additional footage to make up for

changed or edited scenes was mined from MEGAZONE 23

PART 2 (both the Japanese original and English special

editions), SOUTHERN CROSS (from VCD), and the first

episode of DIRTY PAIR.



We apologize in advance for the rather poor quality of

this video, when compared to our more recent efforts.

Back then, we were still playing with SVHS and VCD, and

we did our video rips with a capture card.  This fanedit

suffers as a result.  Perhaps we'll remake it someday,

given sufficient fan interest.



Oh, there's also some music videos, a restored Toy Fair

promo video, and some Carl Macek interview clips included.
